First off, sorry for the lack of content over these past few weeks. We just had our second son (Everett) and things have been crazy! I think I need a bigger boat!

Anyway, some good news is coming from the Fishing In Pa front! First off, I have 3 reviews to do! Owl Jones was kind enough to send over some flies for me to review. I shot all the photos, I'm just wanting until I get some time to get them on the water. Here's a preview:

Next item that will be getting a review is the Manzella Tracker Gloves I received from Manzella and the Outdoor Blogger Network! These things are lightweight, warm and waterproof! I can't wait to finish the full review for you all to see!

The final review is for my brand spanking new NuCanoe! This boat is absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to get some extended time with it on the water. I opted for the Solo Adventurer package, so I have a ton of neat stuff attached to the vessel. If you're looking for a great boat to get yourself around in, this is the one to pick!

Ok, now that I have the coming reviews out of the way, here is the kicker... The big news, the news to end all news, the greatest.... ok I'll stop!

I am now employed by Mr. and Ms. Pete Maina! I've been brought onto their team as their Social Network Coordinator! It's been a fun few days so far and I can't wait to share more with you all later! Pete and Esther are great people and I couldn't be happier about working with them (Pete's a flippin' legend, I still can't believe I'm doing this).

Last thing on my list - If you haven't seen the newest colors of El Grande Lures - GO! GO NOW! http://www.elgrandelures.com and check them out. There are new colors in all the lures, but my favorites - Hatch-Match Tilapia, Black and Blue Tube, Sapo Sapo (ha!), and Mississippi Mud! These things are some of the best soft plastics you'll ever see, so try some today!

Never fear followers, I'll be back with more awesomeness and more exciting news! Thanks for reading and keep on coming back, I appreciated the support!

Well I'm not going to beat around the bush here... We added affiliate ads to the website. Why you ask? Because I want to make some upgrades to the site and I just can't do them without some funds. I need all of our loyal readers help though... Here's what I would like from you (please!):

- If you do decide to buy anything from any of our affiliates, PLEASE tell me if you have a bad experience. I don't want to be peddling junk and if you have a negative experience, I will remove all of that companies links from our site.
- Before you buy something, please check out our affiliates (through our site :) ), and see if you can get it from them... If it's more expensive, go buy it somewhere else.
- If the ads become too overwhelming, let me know. While I'd like them to be used, I don't want them in the way and have you never come back.

To make things easier, here are the companies I decided to go with. I did a lot of research on these companies and feel that they were the best fit and we shouldn't have any problems with them:

- HatCams - Record what you're doing - hands free! We've all seen these by now, but if you haven't, check them out! It's one of those "Why didn't I think of that!" products.
NorCross Marine Products - NorCross sells some pretty neat stuff. Portable Sonar Units, Sonic Laser Scales (it measures your fish without even touching it), Depth Sounders, Coolers.... A lot of cool stuff on their site.
- OutdoorPros.com - Mainly sells outdoor equipment - products for camping, hiking, fishing, hunting... All that stuff  you're probably into if you're here. A lot of products ship for free.
- RiverBum - Offers a huge selection of fly fishing products. Dry Flies, Nymphs, Steelhead and Salmon Flies, Rods, Reels... You get the idea!

Again, if this is turning people off, let me know and they will disappear!

Be sure to check out my latest article for TCO Fly Fishing Magazine entitled "Cold Water Safety". If you fish in the winter, you need to understand how to stay safe and also know what to do in case of an emergency. Don't be afraid to go out in the cold - a lot of great fishing opportunities can be had in the winter!

As promised, part 2 of Huntingtons Lake Structure Map's map of Walker Lake will be completed this weekend. I wanted to give the lake time to settle down from the die off and I think I will be fishing the area at the perfect time for some big fish! I'm going after them all - Bass, Walleye, Pike, Perch... Anything that's going to bite! Watch the 'Product Reviews' section for the info. In the meantime, check out http://hlsmaps.com!

Fairly boring video (it's a lot more fun to watch in person!), but it's progress! This is the lipless crank design being cut:

Interesting article from PennLive regarding the emergency smallmouth regulations put on the Juniata and Susquehanna rivers. While I am all for these regulations, I do see the issues these tournament anglers will face. A lot of tournaments run out of the Susquehanna during the spawn and this is going to hinder them greatly. Is it going to have a huge effect on the sale of tackle and licenses? Probably not, but only time will tell. Nobody said this was a permanent regulation anyway, so give it a chance.

As I stated before, this is a step in the right direction, but it isn't the only answer. Have a look at the article and post your thoughts!

http://www.fishandboat.com/newsreleases/2010press/bass_cr.htm

I'll be up front and honest, this should have happened a long time ago! I haven't been catching the numbers of smallmouth I used to on the river. A catch and release only season (or more) may help put the smallmouth back into their prime, but I don't think it will be enough.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Juniata C&R section pushed as far as the Granville area. The fishing has become very slow from Lewistown to Granville and something needs to be done about this area too. Once you get above Granville, the smallmouth seem to be thriving. This area is very sparse in population and easily accessed fishing areas and it shows in the numbers of healthy fish.

I'm writing this in a tangent and my ideas are all over the place. Here is what I would like to see happen with this:

- C&R section on the Juniata pushed to at least the Granville access area.
- A closed smallmouth season during spawn (there are enough species in the rivers to keep you busy).
- Big Bass Program covering more of the Juniata River, AFTER the C&R program is lifted.

Will all of this happen, probably not, but at least this C&R program is a step in the right direction. I'd like to hear your comments on this matter, so please post your thoughts!

If you ever wanted to learn to kayak or you're a veteran kayaker and just want an educational trip out on the water, then Kayak Fish Pa is for you! Not only will Juan put you on the fish, he will also educated you on fish behavior, patterns, strategies and how to use your kayak as an effective fishing tool.

Juan has more than 40 years of experience fishing in Central Pa. Take a trip to the Juniata or West Branch Susquehanna Rivers for Smallmouth or hit an area lake and target Largemouth.

I'm very happy to announce that I have joined the StrikeWorks Tackle Company team! StrikeWorks has some of the best jigs available. Their color selection is amazing and the finish on them lasts a lot longer than most jigs. StrikeWorks offers all the popular jig styles that I use including finesse jigs, football head jigs, swim jigs, and shakey heads. They also offer a great product called the wood jig that slides through timber like no other jig available (no more hook ups with trees!). For all you swim jig fans (myself included), 'the blade' can be used like a swim jig, spinner bait or lipless crank. The vibrating blade will make even the most laziest of fish bite! Be sure to check them out on the web and on facebook:
